MacAce ISP about

Our Network

Our primary network is based in Telehouse, London - home of LINX - the London Internet Exchange. LINX provides peering between all major UK ISPs and other international organisations. It's the hub of UK and European internet and where we connect you to every website and internet service in the world, quickly. It's regarded as the UK's primary internet location and home of most major ISP's and financial institutions. Here we connect via multiple Tier 1 backbone providers to the very core of the internet backbone and link directly with the US, Europe, Asia and all over the world.

We partner with companies like Cogent - the world's largest backbone provider with a total worldwide capacity of over 1 Terabyte per second. This gives our mail and broadband users the speed they need to surf all over the world as well as allow worldwide customers to access the sites we host extremely quickly.

Telehouse
Telehouse is the UK's primary datacentre. It's got 24hour, 7 day, 365 day monitoring, power backup, fire-protection, cctv, access control, full security detail and is permanently chilled to a cool 5 degrees - the perfect temperature for our servers. Located in the Docklands London, it's where all the big ISP's have a presence and is the focal point of the UK's interconnectivity with the rest of the World.

We have a secondary backup network in Manchester which hosts mirrors of our primary systems and provides alternate traffic routing for all of our services. Our secondary network is designed to instantly take over primary services should anything (or everything) fail. That's how we can offer 100% uptime.

Our Bodmin HQ has a small, but growing, datacentre which is again used for backup and admin. Bodmin is also the home of our National Operations Centre. Our NOC operates 24 hours a day to monitor our entire system. Together this ensures we can provide you with the fastest broadband, hosting and email solutions.

Triple mirroring
Unlike most major ISP's - the big boys - our small size means we can employ the latest technology and backup procedure. We're unique too in that we provide a complete mirror of our entire mail system rather than just backups. This is a live replication of all of our customers email services on our secondary network in Manchester. Should there be a problem with the servers or Telehouse itself, mail servers are instantly and automatically switched to Manchester. Email sending and delivery therefore continues as normal. We also have this live mirroring on our hosting and broadband systems to prevent downtime. What's more, everything is also incrementally backed up to our NOC for triple backup protection. All bases covered!
